CHINEDU ECHERUO AND HIS APPLE DEAL

 

Serial Tech entrepreneur CHINEDU ECHERUO scored a major deal late july when APPLE acquired his online city transit guide , Hopstop for $1.1 billion ,
Apple reportedly sought out HopStop  to boost its mapping infrastructure after last year's GOOGLE map fiasco. Another strong motivation for the purchase was google's acquisition of waze , a similar map application . The integration Hopstop into Apple's map program has been seen by many industry experts as a major step for Apple in its competition with the Google's industry - leading Google Maps service.
     HopStop is based in New York and provides door to door subway and public transit directions in 140 metropolitan areas in iOS , Android , and web formats .In 2011 , it was named one of the 100 fastest growing software companies .
Echeruo grew up in Eastern NIgeria and was a student at kings College in Lagos . He moved to the U.S to attend syracuse University and then moved to Harvard Business school before founding his BUSINESSES. He found HopStop in 2005 after working as an analyst for investment banks for a number of years.
